Sanquhar is a village in Dumfries & Galloway, north of Thornhill on the River Nith. The village has a population of around 2000.
Sanquhar is home to a number of pubs, hotels, shops (including a Spar and a Nisa) and a petrol station.
Sanquhar has a primary school and a comprehensive secondary school offering courses upto Advanced Higher level. The school also serves the neighbouring villages of Kirkconnel, Kelloholm, Wanlockhead and the surrounding areas.
